Tang Jie-Ee Wei face Koreans Won Ho-Na Eun in Olympics Quarter Finals

Mixed doubles pair Chen Tang Jie and Toh Ee Wei, who topped Group D, are well-positioned to advance to the semifinals of the Paris Olympics following a favorable draw. They will face South Korea’s world No. 8 duo, Kim Won Ho and Jeong Na Eun, in the quarterfinals on Wednesday, July 31.

Historically, Tang Jie and Ee Wei have a slight edge over Kim and Jeong, having won two of their last three encounters. After their initial loss to the Korean pair at the German Open, Tang Jie and Ee Wei secured victories at the Asian Championships and the China Open in 2023.

Should the world No. 9 pair overcome Kim and Jeong, they will then compete against either Seo Seung Jae and Chae Yu Jung, the reigning world champions from South Korea, or Hong Kong’s world No. 7 duo, Tang Chun Man and Tse Ying Suet, in the semifinals.

In the other quarterfinal matchups, China’s world No. 1 pair Zheng Siwei and Huang Yaqiong will face their teammates, the world No. 2 pair Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping. Additionally, Japan’s world No. 5 team, Yuta Watanabe and Arisa Higashino, will go up against Thailand’s Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Sapsiree Taerattanachai.
