Badminton made its first appearance as an official event at the 1992 Summer Olympics and has since been featured in eight consecutive Olympiads. Over these years, competitors from 74 nations have participated in Olympic badminton, with 18 nations competing in all eight editions. The sport is regulated by the Badminton World Federation. Initially comprising men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, and women’s doubles at its Olympic debut in Barcelona 1992, the event expanded to include mixed doubles starting from Atlanta 1996.
